History of SFIST
Early in 1994, Dr. Romeo B. Bobis, with the help of the faculty members submitted a proposal to First District Congressman Edcel C. Lagman, converting San Francisco High School to San Francisco Institute of Science and Technology. This was due to the rising demand for quality, accessible and equitable technological education, not only in the Municipality of Malilipot but throughout the First District of Albay. Cong. Lagman sponsored the said proposal in the Congress as House Bill No. 12097 and on March 1, 1995 it was approved by President Fidel V. Ramos as Republic Act 7936.
Today the San Francisco Institute of Science and Technology has an increasing enrollment while it continues to grow and respond to the challenge of our ever-changing society geared towards global competitiveness.
